Who has legal right to sue for non rent if new management just took control. new or old management company?

if you are in an apartment and a new management company comes in which one legally can sue you for non rent if lease was signed after new management but with old company name on lease?Who has legal right to sue for non rent if new management just took control. new or old management company?
The new management company.

The lease transfers and the name on it doesn't matter.

If it is back rent (from before the change) it would depend on the details of the transfer but most likely it is still the new management company.Who has legal right to sue for non rent if new management just took control. new or old management company?
If you were behind on rent before the new company took over, then either could sue you. If you have only lived in the apartment since the new company took over, then probably only the new company would have a legal standing to sue. However, debt is often sold and if the new management has sold or transferred your debt to the old company then they could sue you. The real issue would be if both tried to sue you and recover the same money. Good Luck- Gonzo
